Dear Visitor,
You are now in the website of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Northeastern University. You will find the detailed information about the Department following numerous links on this page and I would like to provide you with only brief general information. Currently, the Department houses 18 full-time faculty and several units, including the Center for Cardiovascular Targeting, the Center for Drug Discovery, and New England Inflammation and Tissue Protection Institute.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is an integral part of the School of Pharmacy and Bouve College of Health Sciences, one of seven colleges of Northeastern University. Health Science is a very fast developing area here, and in the near future we expect to see new developments in such cutting edge areas as nanomedicine and pharmaceutical biotechnology to still further enhance education and research in this fascinating and important area.
The Department hosts a unique undergraduate Toxicology Program and (together with the Department of Pharmacy Practice) an outstanding Pharmacy Program. We are proud that our former graduates, who received their degrees in Pharmacy and Toxicology from our University, enjoy good jobs with clinical pharmacies, drug stores, pharmaceutical companies, environmental services and government. Our extensive graduate program (MS and Ph.D.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences (with specialization in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery Systems, Toxicology, Biotechnology, and Interdisciplinary Program; the program in Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery will be added soon) gained a well-deserved recognition from students, researchers and other universities. The high quality of our scientific research is well justified by several major NIH grants held by our Department’s faculty members.
When looking through this site, you’ll learn about different people and their scientific interests and achievements. Those interests and those achievements span the outstanding variety of subjects, from neuroscience to toxicology, from medicinal chemistry to drug delivery, and from mechanisms of inflammation to nanomedicine. There are, however, several important features that unify these people into a single entity, the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Among these features one can name a shared interest in health sciences and ability to work as a team providing excellent teaching to our students, great scientific ideas, and outstanding community service. So, welcome to our Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the School of Pharmacy, Bouve College of health Sciences, Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts!
