Pharmaceutical Science Program Description
Pharmaceutical science is a problem-solving discipline concerned with the discovery, design, and use of drugs. Pharmaceutical scientists find new targets for drug development, research how drugs work at a molecular level and the harmful effects of drugs, and determine how drugs’ properties, dosages, and delivery systems affect their performance. Here are a few facts to consider:

As drug research increases, more pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries are hiring MS pharmaceutical science graduates.

Northeastern gives you considerable flexibility to pursue your interests. Our specializations include:
Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery Systems
Pharmacology

Toxicology
• Interdisciplinary Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences

Northeastern has a well-deserved reputation among students, researchers, and other universities. Our department has four interlinked centers that pursue specific areas of pharmaceutical and chemical research.
Center for Cardiovascular Targeting

Center for Drug Discovery

Environmental Cancer Research Program

New England Inflammation and Tissue Protection Institute
• We are also associated with The Barnett Institute

Northeastern offers many of its classes in the evening to accommodate the needs of the working community. Many students in the pharmaceutical science MS program complete their degree on a part-time basis.

Northeastern is located in Boston, home to a tremendous diversity of health and research institutions. Northeastern’s is the only graduate program in New England with a MS degree in pharmaceutical science. A master’s from the Bouvé College of Health Sciences will open doors locally and nationally.

Northeastern also has related MS programs in biotechnology and bioinformatics established with funding from the Sloan Foundation.

For those interested in discovery, problem-solving, and cutting-edge research in one of the world’s foremost scientific and medical environments, Northeastern University’s School of Pharmacy in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences is the place to study pharmaceutical science.
