Pharmaceutical Science Program Description
Pharmaceutical science is a problem-solving discipline concerned with the discovery, design, evaluation and use of drugs. Pharmaceutical scientists find new targets for drug development, research how drugs work at a molecular level and the harmful effects of drugs, and determine how drugs’ properties, dosages, and delivery systems affect their performance. Here are a few facts to consider:
• Ph.D. graduates are trained to lead research projects in their areas of specialization.

• Our specializations include
Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery Systems
Pharmacology

Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery
Interdisciplinary Program in Pharmaceutical Science

• Northeastern's School of Pharmacy conducts top-quality research and is consistently among the top ten percent of private schools of pharmacy with the most NIH funding.
• Northeastern has a well-deserved reputation among students, researchers, and other universities. Our department has four interlinked centers that pursue specific areas of pharmaceutical and chemical research.

Center for Drug Discovery
Center for Cardiovascular Targeting
Environmental Cancer Research Program

New England Inflammation and Tissue Protection Institute

We are also associated with The Barnett Institute

• Doctoral students receive tuition waivers and usually receive stipends for research or teaching of $25,000-$30,000/year.
• Northeastern is located in Boston, home to a tremendous diversity of health and research institutions. Northeastern’s is the only graduate program in New England with a degree in pharmaceutical science.

For those interested in discovery, problem-solving, and cutting-edge research in one of the world’s foremost scientific and medical environments, Northeastern University’s School of Pharmacy in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences is the place get a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical science.
